Chris W. Cotterill to Serve as President of Goelzer, Succeeding Brett D. McKamey

We are pleased to announce that Chris W. Cotterill will serve as our firm’s President effective January 2nd. Chris will succeed Brett D. McKamey, who has served as our President since 2003.

This leadership transition is part of a carefully planned succession strategy that began with Chris’s appointment as Chief Operating Officer in 2020, succeeding Brett in that role. As Senior Partner, Brett will continue to advise many of our highest-net-worth private clients and serve as an ex-officio member of our leadership team. His focus will shift to strategic initiatives that support the needs of our clients and position our advisors and consultants for success.

Brett joined Goelzer in January 1990. As a co-founder of our firm as we know it today, Brett was a leading force in the transition from a broker-dealer to a fee-based registered advisory firm and the expansion of our comprehensive wealth planning and institutional advisory services. His positive leadership has impacted every aspect of our firm.

With Chris as our COO, we have grown even more capable through a relentless pursuit of continuous improvement, increased support for our team members, and broadened community engagement. As our President, I am confident Chris will continue to enhance our services to our clients and take our firm to new heights.

Before joining Goelzer, Chris served as COO of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, Chief of Staff to Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard, and a public finance attorney at then-Faegre Baker Daniels. He serves on the boards of directors of the CFA Society Indianapolis, Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis, and the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.

Today, Goelzer Investment Management is one of Indiana’s largest registered investment advisory firms. We advise more than 600 institutional and private clients with assets totaling more than $3.5 billion across 37 states, now from our new office in the Carmel Arts and Design District.

Having worked closely with Brett for the past 35 years and Chris for the past five, I have complete confidence we will continue to do what Goelzer does best—serving the growing and evolving needs of our clients, colleagues, and community.
