Goelzer Investment Management Welcomes Chris W. Cotterill as Chief Operating Officer

January 2020

“At Goelzer, intellectual capital has always been one of our strengths, and with Chris Cotterill aboard, we’re enhancing our management capabilities so that our clients continue to benefit from working with the best and brightest investment team in Indiana.” -Greg Goelzer, Chief Executive Officer

Goelzer Investment Management, an Indianapolis-based investment firm advising on assets in excess of $2.0 billion on behalf of institutional investors and private clients, is proud to announce the hiring of Chris W. Cotterill as Chief Operating Officer.

Cotterill joins Goelzer after an impressive career in the public and private sectors. Most recently, he served as EVP and chief operating officer of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. In this role, Cotterill worked closely with Governor Eric Holcomb and Secretary of Commerce Jim Schellinger on economic development matters, helping to deliver record levels of new job commitments and capital investment to our state. Previously, as the corporation’s EVP and general counsel, he developed the Engage Indiana initiative, which is designed to encourage private sector investment in efforts that improve the lives of Hoosiers.

Now part of the Goelzer Investment Management leadership team, Cotterill’s expertise will help Goelzer and its staff continue to offer exceptional service to its growing number of institutional and high-net-worth private clients.

His predecessor in this role, Brett McKamey, will continue to focus his efforts as President on providing strategic leadership to the firm and serving as an advisor to institutional and private clients. In addition to these roles, Brett will continue to promote Goelzer’s engagement with the broader Indianapolis community.

Cotterill, a graduate of Wabash College and the Indiana University School of Law—Bloomington, has been acknowledged by the Indianapolis Business Journal in its 40 Under 40 (2009) and Who’s Who in the Law (2011). In January, Governor Holcomb awarded Cotterill a Sagamore of the Wabash, the highest award given to those who have rendered distinguished service to Indiana.

Prior to his work at the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, Cotterill served in roles in both government and private practice. He was chief of staff to Indianapolis mayor Gregory Ballard, corporation counsel for the City of Indianapolis and Marion County, and general counsel at the Indiana Office of Technology. He also advised public and private sector clients as a partner at the law firm of Faegre Baker Daniels LLP.

Goelzer Investment Management, an Indianapolis based firm advising on assets in excess of $2 billion, provides highly tailored asset management and investment advisory services to institutional and high-net-worth private clients. The firm manages discretionary and non-discretionary portfolios that can be customized to meet client-specific investment goals. Goelzer’s proprietary investment and wealth management research has helped the firm focus on building long-lasting client relationships and delivering successful results.
